Poems composed on Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh.

Written on the sunny Wednesday of 23/7/2014.

1.      Among the long grasses
the thistles
Hutton’s ancient rocks
I pause
To take in
Nature’s pride
Neither bashful
Nor arrogant
Just growing
Green
And alive.

2.       Away from
the rush of
the city
the noisy clatter
of the irrelevancies
I am restored.

3.      A wee bird
Drinks fae a burn
A butterfly flauchters
Oan purple flouers
An Ah  feel
Like Ah’m
Li Po
Iz Chinese folk
Pass.

4.      On Arthurs Seat
I roamed
With the sun
Burning my
Skin
And the breeze
On my
Hat
It was
Lovely.

5.      On this hill
Friends,family,lovers
The lost,tourists,poets
On this hill
I have walked
With my sister
And nephew
In summers dawn
With my friend
Near Salisbury Crags
With my love
This hill speaks
Of change
And knows it better than I
Do
Born before me
It will outlive
Me
But will never
Experience
The joys
Of company.

6.       How sad
as I sit on the grass
among flowers, bees
and birds
I do not recognise,
I’m more familiar
With brand logos
Than
The life
Which surrounds me.

7.      How is it
Despite generations
Of domestications
That the dog
Remembers
Better
That it is
a wolf
than we
who are
animals
and worse
fail to remember
we are still part
of the
web of life.
