Home Before Light

I have to get home
before light,
into her loaded arms
before the night
comes to its end,
and she explodes.

The city no longer
looks the same;
she waits for me
swallowing moonlight.

It's been a week
full of liquor
filled frenzies with no end
in sight.

Days feel like waking dreams,
nights, obscure realities,
I can no longer see
the clock,
or tell when it's time
to fall asleep.
