A homeless beat

Letting the sting in my eye
Feast on my mind tonight
Not knowing if I might fall,
Stitched these fingernails tight
To organized ruins;
Jaws clench
As a drop stealthily
Tiptoes down the alley.
Greeting the cold meander
Is a stretch of skin
Solitary.
Need
A soft touch
Or a serrated edge
And a little salt to
Tease this taste,
Tearing pages
From this novel
And maybe flare them all and their hardbound cover
In an instant
Invited by these wrists.

Trying to find a rhythm
In the feeling that
I stole from the dark .
Unchained words
Empty despair
And a little spark..
All that I dared to borrow
From a homeless beat.
