For my daughter

I tried to think of words to say
Something to take the suffering away
Something to soothe the hurt and pain
Something to make you smile again
The words I find are very few
Make sure you hold them true
Remember the good times you had
Even though you still feel sad
The times you laughed and shared together
They will remain in your heart forever
Live each day one by one
And slowly you will see the sun
Take time to shed a quiet tear
In the grief you will find him here.
In things you see, do and say
Those memories will always stay.
In death don’t fear
And if you need me I am here
