Before The Lies

I look at the
descending sun
big , round and fat
and full of blood
we used to sit
where I'm sat
my love
do you remember that
when we were
a one once .

The sunlight sprays
light up old books of dust
they're covered with gone days
that since us
have gone untouched
yes the years
have fell away
I know
as it still hurts
piano notes they play
a mournful , goodbye
dirge .

I hear childrens laughter
behind closed eyes
I still see their faces after
we fell from sunshine skies
ever since I've been flattened
inside each day I've died
memories are all I have
that were before
the lies.
