Ravishment

Relief resides within my soul
Such weariness
                  At last I'll rest
          Put down enforced tutelage
And learn now just for sheer fun
    What's happened in academia?
Driven by rubrics to perform the best
Certain am I:
this must be dollar-driven to drive out all the fun
          I want to learn just to learn
So much to learn
            It's fun to learn
                          How I love to learn
                                         Did I mention learning excites me?
However,
If you make me
   Write one more paper
             In APA or MLA or AMA or...
I just don't give a damn! Cite all my sources (I really am okay with that) but could you please
For heaven's sakes, stick with one confounded method that doesn't arbitrarily change?!
Makes sense to me with new formats, ebooks, websites, and the like
That new ways of citing things would come to light
However,
Last time I checked, books were still much the same
    Striving for simplicity and logic in citing strikes me as sane!
                        So

                I'm giving you a rest
I've been in school forever now. I'm done for awhile, seen my last test.
      I know, I know, you beguiling
           provocateur,
   I haven't seen the last of you,
         you'll whisper in my ear.
   Luring me with enchanting
            thoughts of all your hidden
                   knowledge.
But...
I know the secret now: I can search all on my own.
I'll gleefully plunder all your treasures, glean pearls pure from the source.
                  Lie back,
                        Surrender willingly,
        Your ravishment awaits.
