No Escape

She has no gender. She has no age. She messes with you in the cruelest of ways. In your head as well as soul, there's no escape from her little storm.

She walks beside you and gets real close, whispers in your ear, "Shh, you're just not good enough my Dear." She pulls back smiling as your eyes get wide, oh how you wish you could die. It's not the first time...

Here she comes again, in the dead of night whispering and listing your insecurities. One, two, there goes the third! But, all you do is twist and turn in endless nightmares and self-loathe.

Days go by and she's no where in sight, "Oh dear God, have you finally heard my cries?!" He doesn't reply but, you pay that no mind. Smiles are brighter, heart is lighter, you sleep more soundly.

Never forget, she never leaves and is always near.

You're sleeping so soundly, dreaming even, lying in a field of Daisies. Nightmares long gone. A smile on your sleeping face.

The bed shifts slightly; sky darkens, your Daisies wither. An arm snakes around your waist, your eyes moving rapidly behind your lids, smile no longer present on your face as she leans in and whispers in your ear, "I've come back my Dear."
