The Reckless, the Shameless

Do you see that smile above us in the sinner of a sky?
No? Well, neither do I, it must be another hopeless night
For the children, for the sleeves of the burdens.
They scream like they're beat as they're knocked off their feet.
These eyes in the trees with knives stuck to their tongues are really killing me.
The thoughts, the words are growing with my breath.

Nobody dies alone, the vultures just possess them too soon.
Something claiming to be Satan seems to think we're falling to our doom.

I'm the reckless, the shameless, I talk like I know what's going down.
I'm shouting, it's screaming in my twisted brain now.
I'm the reckless, the shameless, I'm high on air and I run on gasoline.
I'm sick, I'm out of it, I regret letting him clip my eagle wings.
I'm sick of it, sick of pretending I know what's right.
I'm the reckless, the shameless--who says I'm afraid of heights?
Well, I'm not because I'm the reckless, the shameless.

Do you smell the angry perfume? It smells so damn insecure.
Well I do, the air's full of blood, says gravity, it needs a cure.
Monotone voices scream off the top of their lungs "Give it all you got."
Give it, they say. Like the birds, they're left to rot in an uncrowded parking lot.
They can't take it with the tongues chasing after them.
They're left to fend for themselves.

I'm always searching for something not worth my attention.
I'm always losing my fucking temper.
Well I think you'd be proud of me
When I tell you I've been working on me.
I smile, darling, because your eyes, your eyes,
