Man in the Mirror

In the mirror I see myself.

A dark, lost soul crying for help.

On the outside I'm tough.

To the world I am enough.

Society sees me as well built.

As someone without reason to wilt.

But let me tell you what my reflection screams.

Let me clear up these common dreams.

I am nothing more then a failure at best.

A junkie and fiend, like all the rest.

A drop out who won't fulfill his potential.

A delinquent who hurts unintentional.

A disgrace to my friends and family who care.

The ones who know I'm really scared.

Scared of this path that I haven chosen.

Scared of the quilt that I woven.

A man who has made darkness his companion.

And views the world as rather uncanny.

Silence has become my best of friends.

And I know it will be with me until the end.

A man who cries himself to sleep.

And can't wait until he's 6 feet deep.

A man who prays every night for death.

And hopes one day he will be blessed.

Let me tell you what looks back at me.

What I have really become to be.

A sad, sad story that has no fairy tale end.

A man who is forced to pretend.

Pretend he's not broken inside.

Pretend that he's not trying to hide.

Hide from the life that he has.

Hide from the demons and hope they pass.

But he knows they are here to stay.

And he'll force himself outta bed another day.

This is the truth that looks back at me.

The man in the mirror that nobody can see.
