A Life of Lies

A tragic event is all it takes.
To turn brightness into a darland waste.
A painted smile lies on her face,
But no one knows how hard it is to make.

The painted smile speaks only lies.
To the world, this is her disguise.
They believe she's happy with her life,
But the truth lies within her mind.

In her journal, her secrets are revealed,
All of the times she had skipped meals,
Everytime she thought she had healed
Only to find out it wasn't that big of a deal.

When she is all alone,
She becomes a drone
To her, this is not home.
Her home is in an underground dome.

When the day finally comes to an end,
Things begin to run through her head.
She tries to lay down and go to bed,
But the thoughts are screaming reasons to be dead.

Her painted smile gets erased.
As she cries the night away.

She's tired of the same routine.
Her patience is wearing quickly.
She longs for something more
Than an empty feeling in her core.

She's tired of living a lie
As she draws pictures on her thigh.
She wishes to feel
Even if it means for her to bleed.
Her time is coming quickly.

The very next day,
Her secrets are spilled away.
Her throat releases the lies,
But only with the help of a knife.

As she falls to the ground,
A smile lies on her face.
She slowly says, "It's better this way;
I no longer have a painted face."
