I had hid my feelings for you
Or so I had thought
They are deep and true for you
Admired from a distance
But always ready to step in and aid
But never quite took that leap
And for my cowardice a high toll paid.

You took me aside
You just want to be friends
I said “yes” but lied
As you liked my best friend
So I bowed out of the picture
Just to keep you happy
Love and acceptance in mixture.

Your Love with my friend didn’t last
While I was depressed and lost
Has the possibility of us really past?
I think I’ve changed
For the better, and I’d do anything
Anytime with you would be bliss
It’d be a full relationship not a ‘fling’.

If I now where to say that “I love you”
Will I lose you forever?
My feelings now ignored although true
A broken friendship and a lost love
Is this the horror yet to pass?
A broken heart fixed then broken
A tragic emotional farce.

And so I go full circle to the start
An unrequited Love for you
But this time will we have to part?
Are you aware of my feelings?
They are deeply, madly and true
Will you repulse them,
Or are you an Unrequited Love too?
