I Really Do Love You You Know

 A sweet text or so I thought
I really do love you you know
It seemed strange
But my girlfriend was loving
And it brought a smile to my face.

If only I had given it more thought
If only I had read between the lines
I loved you too
I trusted you
I believed you always.

Why did you send me that text?
Was it because you were feeling guilty?
Surely if you understood you would have stopped
I had no idea the pain that lay in store for me.

Now this got me thinking
You clearly didn’t love me when you sent that text did you
Which makes me ask
Did you ever love me?
Or did you lie to me for all this time?

That text has been constantly on my mind
I really do love you you know
One things for sure I did love you and still love you
I really do love you you know
Did only one of us ever really mean those words?
