Sleep-(silence)

 Sometimes I can (almost) forget about you.
(if only) For a second.

In awakeness,
(sometimes) I see your demons-
I have (always) seen them.
(i thought) You knew that.
Yet (now) you are (constantly) silent,
Your own words have made you blind.

Shall I describe your (sneaky, manipulative) demons?
Would you want to know (what you are hiding from)?

It’s a shame,
You (cannot) escape.

(you must know that) You have made me tiptoe this double edged sword,
Balancing (for longer than you think)-
You made me the supporting act for your show.

(now i’m not one to boast, but i’ve already had my share
in the shadows, no need to put me back there again.)

You may grind me,
Push me, trip me (and snicker).
Whip me with your words,
Burn me to ashes and blow me into the wind,
Scar me. (don’t worry,)
Of course I’ll fall.

(at least i know i’m not invincible.)

It’s a shame,
I (almost) forgot about you.
You were squeaky clean,
Straight from the showroom, servicing not due
For another hundred thousand clicks.
Yet when something broke inside you early,
You wouldn’t fix it.
(or let me fix it.)

It’s not the bloody back brakes.
(it’s the radiator. the radiator’s blocked.)

You don’t take no for an answer.
You don’t take yes for an answer.
To you, (there is no answer)
The good old oil change will fix everything.

Your headlights are burning low already,
And you can never outrun the demons.
Don’t trust me?
I’ve tried.

(in my sleep) I am bathed in white
Silence
You prodded and poked my protective skin,
Tried to get through from the other side.
I won’t let you (now).

I don’t need you,
I will not
Stretch to fit you in.
