NAKED IN THE CHAIR

(Inspired by the picture accompanying John Feddeler's poem Woman, Thou Art Inscrutable.)

This was many years ago,
Not thinking how old we’d grow,
Back in our ‘summer of love’
When just sun came from above.
I think of you sitting there,
Naked in the garden chair,
Legs folded and hair undone,
As we breakfast in the sun,
Feeling the day getting warm
By sun’s touch on naked form.
At ease, in my company
And your own skin, plain to see.

Reverently on you I gaze,
With your beauty you amaze.
(How the God we do believe
Must have first looked on fair Eve,
When He’d formed her perfectly
For the First Man’s company.)
Inhibitions we forget
Now we have been intimate.
You tantalise me for more
Of what we did night before,
Tasting Eden’s sexy fruits
In bed and our birthday suits.
