Because of His Name

We walked past it everyday
Never looking twice
We would be laughing, talking, counting our steps
My brother and I

There was always music playing
Didn’t really think about it
We would be holding hands, whispering secrets
My brother and I

I think now about the treasures we’d find
Stuffed in pockets
We would have our hands full of things
My brother and I

One day we’d walk past it one last time
Not allowed to look back
We would be crying, whimpering, counting our steps
My brother and I

There would be no music playing
Only shattering of hearts
We would be holding hands only to be pulled apart
My brother and I

Treasures in pockets turned upside down
Broken trinkets falling all around
We would be forever separated now
My brother and I

My heart races past the places we’d past so nonchalantly
Longing to see that fountain once more
We would never take it for granted again
My brother and I

If only I could find him
My brother, I am seeking
