Choking On The Blues

I sit here and I wait.
Looking down old roads of the past.
But it's to late.
To rebuild the path.
Once made of steel.
Now just broken glass.
That cuts me when I feel.
The memories can never be forgotten.
So I'll pray for the day.
And run from it's wrath.
And whatever the price.
I can never pay.
The dues.
I have nothing more then a little pride.
Left here to swallow.
Cuz I'm choking on it's blues.
That's left me empty.
And feeling hollow.
To die.
So I sit here in my silence.
Gazing into another telling mirror.
No words to speak.
So many reasons why.
Just lost in their sound.
Ones I come to think.
Right before I start to cry.
Knowing I'm going to drown.
And words from my lips.
Couldn't turn this ship around.
So I'll wish for the day.
And wait till it's past.
And whatever the price.
I can never pay.
It's dues.
With nothing more then a little pride.
Left here to swallow.
Down on these blues.
And while wallowing in it's bitter.
Consuming love with it's pity.
I never know what to do.
And time after time.
I'm getting screwed.
Letting it get to me.
Guess my world was made for a fool.
So I'll sleep for this day.
And awaken to it's past.
And whatever the price.

Extremely dazed and confused.
I've been bitten.
By the hair of the dog.
Life's become a blur.
My neck in it's noose.
And my love stalls blindly in the fog.
Like a car runs out gas.
A rocket without it's boost.
So I don't dream of the day.
That it'll finally pass.
So whatever the price.
It already knows I can't pay it's dues.
It's left me nothing more.
Then a little pride left here to swallow.
Down on it's blues.
So for now.
