after all, the likes of Yeats and
Thomas Hardy wrote great poems
well into old age..:)
although I agree that for so many,
the poetic self rarely sees middle age...

good points. good points. indeed, there are those minds that never lose whatever it is that keeps them going that way, while other poetic voices say what they have to say in a short time and let go. well, we can maybe take this piece as a scenario in one poet's life, an isolated thing, or as a generalization regarding many poets.
