Well Earned Reprieve

Awaken, it's time. The red fills my sight.
Silver gleams in the malign moonlight.
Liquid mercury movements made,
My only encumbrance, an athame blade.
My prey is known, I hunt by scent.
I know the ones my master meant.
Convoked by mortals, guilty of ignorance.
Sacrifice made is only half the expense.
Now I'm here, seems they've opened up hell.
I come in trust for the souls that they'd sell.
It's only for now that I do as I'm beckoned.
But when I finish, it's not as they reckoned.
"Be still, my dear, It will just hurt awhile.
My master hates silence, but your screams make him smile.
I take pause, but make no mistake.
It's not change of heart or for your sake.
It's not self loathing nor hesitation.
Most assuredly it is not compassion.
Know the truth, it's a moment savored.
Fear is how your soul is flavored.
I've completed the task set before me.
Your last payment made, hell eternally.
Finally I've paid the beast with my best.
I've earned my reprieve, my final rest.
