Old Enemy

I felt it...when it returned

Kicking in the door
of my subconconscious

While I slept...
creeping into the soul of me
like a wretched sickness

Collapsing into my dreams
weaving them into...
all to familiar nightmares

That insidious pang...
dead center of my solar plexis
bringing silent tears to my eyes
as I slumber...
whimpering in my sleep
like some cornered wounded animal

The fear... is sickening to me
As my old enemy...
Lays upon me like some
Tangible entity...
Living unto itself...
A dreadful Foreboding

Mocking me...
Laughing deceitfully
Splintering the careful wall
I placed so fervently around my soul

Brick upon brick of pseudo-courage
Layer upon layer of positive meditations

Prayers and lighted candles...
In suplication and submission

All for not

My enemy...
Has found me again...
this time bringing 7 more of its friends
to join the party... of debauchery
that is the playground of my soul

Anxiety...so familiar
Like 2nd skin...
Coating my flesh with a cold sweat

Knawing at my safe places
like a ravenous beast...
pacing to and fro
Deciding... when best to devour me

Some where...far off
in the distance of my spirit

I hear Hoofs...
racing toward me...
I did send out an SOS...

I pray my anscestors
are drawing near
In battlestance to secure my soul

I fear...it
is the Hounds of Hell
Come to shred...
whats left of my sanity....
