Fire
You come and stand and stay and talk
Your brown eyes seek me out like prey and hawk
But
Here’s what you don’t see
You could be so dangerous for me
I hear between these words you speak
Something longing to be closer, feeling weak
But
Here’s what you don’t know
Your tide has a dangerous undertow
You come by when you shouldn’t be here
Claiming this and that but coming straight to where I can hear
But
Here’s what you don’t feel
You’re so dangerous, your heat makes my head reel
I see what lies between your hands when you speak
Something longing to be closer, feeling weak
But
Here’s what you don’t hear
The way my insides burn with a fire so dangerous, so near
You, pursue my eyes, peruse my thoughts, do you perceive
What I’m hiding, what I’m tucking away, when you walk away and leave
And
Do you sense the push, the pull, and the drive that might propel
Me into your dark and dangerous waters, your deep well
Your brown eyes seek me out like prey and hawk
But
Here’s what you don’t see
You could be so dangerous for me
I hear between these words you speak
Something longing to be closer, feeling weak
But
Here’s what you don’t know
Your tide has a dangerous undertow
You come by when you shouldn’t be here
Claiming this and that but coming straight to where I can hear
But
Here’s what you don’t feel
You’re so dangerous, your heat makes my head reel
I see what lies between your hands when you speak
Something longing to be closer, feeling weak
But
Here’s what you don’t hear
The way my insides burn with a fire so dangerous, so near
You, pursue my eyes, peruse my thoughts, do you perceive
What I’m hiding, what I’m tucking away, when you walk away and leave
And
Do you sense the push, the pull, and the drive that might propel
Me into your dark and dangerous waters, your deep well
