WHEN THE RIGHT SIDE GOES WILD

No middle ground holds me steady
Instead one side is still and the other rocky
No sweet ambiance holds my hand
Instead there’s moving water and shifting land
So who’s there to question
Why one side goes wild
And one side goes numb

No mediator calms my nerves
Instead one army pulls while the other pushes and swerves
No white flag is offered in surrender
Instead blood rushes and bruises lay in the fire
So who’s there to point out
One side’s going wild
While the other’s going numb

No soothsayer helps me figure it all out
Instead a storm rages here while strong winds race the clouds
No eye is found in which to breath and recoup
Instead skies darken and rain does more than threaten
So who’s there to protect
When one side goes wild
And the other side goes numb

No goldsmith is there to hammer it all out
Instead iron clamps down hard and copper starts to bend to break
No cooling balm is found anywhere to relieve to calm
Instead metal rivers run cold while tin begins to shy away
So how will anyone know
When one side goes wild
And the other side goes numb

No one’s there to stop me from flying, from plummeting
Instead I stand on the edge, looking up, looking down
No one’s there to talk to, to listen to
Instead I scream alone
So how do I know anyone will care
When one side goes wild
And the other side goes numb
