Fire, Ice, Salt

Over here there was fire
And over there I saw ice
But somewhere in between
Someone fed me salt
And broke apart the wounds
The pain so fresh and raw

Do I run for fire
To burn away the night
Or do I turn to ice
To numb away the fright

Fire cuts like razors
Leaving scars across the skin
You watch it boil and bleed
You watch it churn and seethe
Fire comes to char the edges
Fire comes to singe the memory

Do I run for fire
To burn away the night
Or do I turn to ice
To numb away the fright

Ice goes down swiftly
Leaving new sensations in its wake
You feel it spin you around
You feel it dizzy your world
Ice comes to freeze your mind
Ice comes to deaden the past

Do I run for fire
To burn away the night
Or do I turn to ice
To numb away the fright

You poured the salt in
I wasn’t quite healed yet
Now the anger’s festering
The fear has grown quite large
Salt isn’t meant for this
Salt, it takes away my wish

Do I run for fire
To burn away the night
Or do I turn to ice
To numb away the fright

Do I, I don’t know
I just know, to stay away
From salt
