climb on bye

resting in the shade of a tree
watching the tourists struggle up the hill
gazing as they go on towards their imagined piece of history
the Acropolis

wondering if they will actually see a Greek soldier
or a young child from a bygone age
sipping wine and eating ye olde goats cheese
cos thats what they did .....right?

course it is, was...etc
all romantic like it says on the radio shows
shows on the history channel and the terestial tv
all bronzed perfectly in the sun

just like the holiday brochures show you...you
after two weeks in one of their plans...spaces...history trips
the el greco hotel just like the one Demeter stayed in when she fancied a break from all that nature

tourists climbing higher and higher
the higher the better cos there is more chance of it being real....
hoping that you climb so high that you walk on the clouds
that you walk with Gods

drinking cool spring water
