Separation

We're at a disconnect
Disconnected since we first met
Wishing for a way to bridge this gap
Looking for any options
Checking my map

This is a new place
Placing myself in this race
Wishing I could read these strange signs
Looking around in caution
Making sure I won't leave you behind

I didn’t recognize the sound
Sounding pained when you weren’t around
Refusing to stop, tiring myself out
Constantly missing you
Filling with doubt

You knew the reason
Reasoning it would change with the season
Aching to get closer
Scared to lower our defenses
Not wanting to get hurt anymore

We began to realize
Realizing our inevitable demise
Surrounded by disapproval
Alarms triggered by all senses
Starting the final removal

We're at a disconnect
Disconnected since we first met
Failing to clear this gap
Left with only one choice
Tearing my map

This is a new place
Placing myself in this race
Ignoring the signs
Yelling for help, losing my voice
I’m beginning to leave you behind

Breathe deep
Breathing before we take this leap
Let’s risk it all
Give it one final go
Won’t throw away this chance, however small

This Love is worth everything
Loving how you make my heart sing
The World and Time will melt away
As we both begin to glow
Coloring away all of the gray

We're at a disconnect
Disconnected since we first met
I'll find a way to bridge this gap
Discovering the best option
Following my map

This is a new place
Placing myself in this race
Understanding all of these signs
Taking it slow as a precaution
I'll never leave you behind
