Maria
Her nose ring is never straight
Cocked to the side like God's wings
Whenever He is puzzled by our poetry
Sometimes I dream
Of falling on one knee and proposing
But then I remember the essence of my poetry
Amounts to nothing
In comparison with her candor
That opens doors to beauty
I wish she would kiss me
Whenever she smoothly sifts rhymes
From her lips
But I just spit mine like a foolish heathen
While the cross is carried by Jesus
My demons
Are a reflection of her's
And I hurt every time she does
While I try to umbrella her from the rain
And she dances in it all the same
All I want is to show her my love
And stop this refraction of her's
That is so blurred...
