Night Fall

I stare out
The icy, frost-bound
Window pane
To the vastly open
Crystal blue sky,

The trees,
Naked from Autumn,
Reach upwards
To hold onto,
For even a moment,
The misshapen umbrellas
That fly just above
Their fingertips,

The wind moans
Softly as a ghost
Days befoe
All Hallows Eve,

As Jack Frost
Threatens to kick
My door down
In a wintery furor,

The luminous orb
Hanging loosely
In the sky
Falls and all
Becomes night
