Emotional Flood

idling through consciousness
teetering on the edge
subconscious state of mind.

aware of moments lost,
of moments that will never be
will i ever see the light again?

even if i will it, dream it
could it ever be the me
like so many years ago...

never saw it coming,
these fleeting memories
are they lost forever?

do i remember, or do i deny
thoughts of light
bring me to my knees.

so many signs, couldn't believe
neglecting all that was real
will i ever dream again?

with persistent fear chasing
ending up in my own nightmare
losing sight of all that was light.

recalling a spark of feeling
covered within a blur of gray
why must the darkness torment me this way?
