What Is This Thing Called Love

Love is a force of nature.
However much we may want it.
We can not command it.
Or demand it.
It's never been for sell.
Some say love lives in the moon.
Stars and the wind.
And it's rain has a certain smell.
As it's felt.
We may have some limited ability.
To change it.
But we do at the risk of upsetting it.
Where we stand.
It lives in an ecological balance.
We can never fully understand.
It's not a DNA strand.
Strangely enough.
We can stage it's seduction.
Mount it with a courtship.
Like a glove.
But the result is more likely to be infatuation.
Two illusions dancing together.
Than true love.
Personally, I believe true love.
Is formed from god above.

Love is bigger than you are.
You can invite it.
But you cannot dictate how.
When and where love expresses itself.
Even it's excited.
You can choose to surrender to love.
Or not.
But in the end love strikes like lightening.
Unpredictable and irrevocably.
It's so electrifying.
You can even find yourself.
Loving people you'd never like at all.
It can make you fall.
Love does not come with conditions.
Stipulations, addendums, codes of compromises.
Like the sun.
Love radiates independently of our fears.
Love feeds on desires.
It's the sun inside your soul.
Burning like a fire.

Love is inherently free.
It cannot be bought or sold.
It can never just simple be traded.
For any amount of money.
You cannot make someone love you.
Nor can you prevent it to stop.
Like bees who make their honey.
Every last drop.
Love cannot be imprisoned nor can it be legislated.
Nor even a marketable power source.
It's not a substance.
Not a commodity.
It's an invisible force.
Love has no territory.
No borders touched.
No quantifiable mass of energy output.
But it can kill a heart.
It's crushed.

One can buy a marriage partner.
Buy sexual favors.
And it's lies.
But marriage is a matter for the law.
For rules and courts and property.
In the end.
Marriage has it's price.
Dowry, and in the present alimony.
The pre-nuptial agreement.
Make it clear.
That marriage is contracted life's.
But as we all know.
Marriages, whether arranged or not.
May have little enough to do with love.
It's almost motorized.

Sexual stimulation.
Gratification.
Whether by way of fingers.
Mouths, objects of fantasy play.
Whips and chain.
Just plain pleasures.
Can certainly be bought and sold.
Not to mention.
Used to sell other things.
Whether sex should be for sale.
Is another question entirely.
But love itself can not be sold.
It's un contained.

One can buy loyalty.
Companionship and attention.
Perhaps even compassion itself.
But love itself.
Cannot be bought to hold.
In it's demanding.
An orgasm can be bought.
But love cannot.
If It comes or not.
By grace of god.
Of its own will.
And in its own timing.
Subject to no ones planning.

Love cannot be turned on.
As a reward.
It cannot be turned off.
As punishment.
In whole or part.
Only something else pretending.
To be love.
Can be used as a lure and its hook.
For bait and switch.
Imitated.
Insinuated.
But the real deal.
Can never be delivered.
If it doesn't come freely.
From your heart.

This doesn't mean that love allows destructive.
Abusive behaviors to go unchecked.
It's number one.
Love speaks out for justice.
And protests.
When harm is being done.
Love points out the consequences.
Of hurting oneself or others.
Love allows room for anger, grief, or pain.
To be expressed and released.
Like a gun.
But love does not threaten to withhold.
Itself if it doesn't get what it wants.
It doesn't say directly.
Or indirectly.
"If you want to be loved you must be nice"
Or do what I want.
Or never love anyone else.
Or promise you'll never leave me.
Or I'm gone.

Love is inherently compassionate.
And empathic.
The true nature of love.
And love itself.
Can not be manipulated.
Or live restrained .. at all.
Love honors the sovereignty.
Of each soul.
Love can never be explained.
It has it's own law.
