Alzheimer's dementia .... The mind boggles

She can't lift her head up
It faces the floor
She is dribbling but can't wipe herself any more
Her body is losing it's every ability
Her mind is crying for she can think
But cannot speak
She hears sound surround her
And light flickers and changes
But for her it's all motion
Volumes and danger
She could not protect herself
Not even from a simple fall
She gave everything to her life
All she wants is a a little more
This is not a peaceful ending
No way to go out
She was once so vibrant
Cheerful and loud
Her memory has gone back to a different time in life
When she was a little girl
Not a mother
Not a wife
With pink bows in her hair
And lace frilled socks
Old fashioned dresses
And a wind up music box
She is stuck in this memory
It's all her mind will let her keep
Until she gets rest
And with angels she'll sleep
Photos show of a once radiant fresh faced beauty
With a smile to melt
And humility
A life well lived
Grand even splendid
Hearts she had broken
Hearts she has mended

Now
This is not life
But how Hers will come to end
The years have taken her mind as it's friend
She looks so fragile
So lethargic and weak
And in her mouth the last words she will speak
Give me back my memory
My body
And my soul
And fear not angels
With you I'll follow

And then she sleeps
Peacefully
With an endless tomorrow
