Image for the poem Grief

Grief

Grief: An elixir intoxicating my soul;
Saturating my being as deadly black mold.
Why is this my plight, to embrace darkness as light?
Happiness taunts me like billowing ocean waves,
Leaving me longing for the comfort of the grave.

Grief: My biographer's unchanging nom du plume;
Authoring a tale intricate as the great Hume,
With chapters of despair, filled with desolation.
The epilogue, I suppose, will offer relief;
Releasing my soul from this epic penned by grief.
