Grave of the Fireflies

Once upon a time
In the realm of dreams and nightmares
There was a couple walking down a dirt road
With fire behind them, pushing them forward
The fighting spirit..
Fireflies danced about the flames, and around the couple
Admiring them like the stars.

It began to get cold
Snow began to fall
The fire dimmed
Fireflies died.
But the couple kept on,

Soon she got too cold to keep going
He couldn't just leave her there..
So he put her on his back, even though she hated it.

The snow became knee deep,
it became engulfing
The cold began to break him down now
With doubt, he looked back
Through the thick downfall, he saw the infamous black cloak
Then and there, something sparked in him.

Heat surrounded them
And along with a roar,
The fire bursts through the snow
Now more raging than the last,
The black cloaked figure ran.
Fireflies, once again filled the air
The snow melts,
Bringing beautiful flowers
Where the fireflies once fell.
