Subsides

 within the grey of the morning sky
behind the clouds where the light subsides
a hollow release of a timid sigh
too shallow for the world to take notice

a sullen breeze carries the whispered cry
across the air the echoed plight
and when the words fall from sight
the world is too shallow to take notice

a question asked behind swollen eyes
what happens when emotions die?
upon the ground the tears have dried
