somewhere over the rainbow it's still raining

don't act like you really about that life
making moves in the street
if you have a coronary
every time somebody dies

my blood burns black
beats right off time
with the screaming shadow
that took up residence
in a vacant heart

still waiting for my ol man
to hit me back
keep sending e mails
but i guess no wi fi in the afterlife

it's gotta be cold angry blue
a faded just jean jacket
in an anchorage december

just wanna sneak through
the service entrance to june

i wanna flood the nearest cop bar
with carbon monoxide
convince myself
that even better men than i
still deserve the death

words are just words
when angels don't take flight
in fear of turbulence
the light from a burning church
is more warming
than that beautiful opiate blanket

i'll snuggle up quick
with a good book
on the perils of astral
projection
how to navigate dreams
a short draw of cheap whiskey
a snub nose six shooter
for when this half life expires

no need to police my brass
be gone before the pin hits the primer
