Image for the poem Her Name Was Angel

Her Name Was Angel

Before days of surrendered eyes
I wept Icicles of tears of emptiness
Chilling my heart of vacant love
Drowning in resented bitterness

Red soaked feet on a sunny day
Each step getting darker into blindness
Slipping on the mossy hardened path
Of the sharp edges of loneliness

Until time was frozen at an instant
My soul captured by emerald eyes
Breathes no longer my own
Heart stopped then revived

Warmth streaming through me
Bathing in heavenly tears
Touch of kindness reaching
To hush my lips of screaming fears

My scars turning to wisdom
Paths paved with enlightenment
Flaws proudly hung
On no walls of judgment

A simple name she accepted
An angel in white gifted
My prayers are now hers
God blessing us when veil lifted

I flourished within her arms
Her skin as soft as her soul
The turbulence of her currents of love
I am swept away in the ocean of her under toe

Angel’s eyes brighter than ever
Caressing the soul of another
His eyes were just like mine
Feeding from an Angel of his mother

Once a lonely empty dark soul
Lost in time and space
No room for such existence
When Angels now fill my place
