Outrunning Time

Time is closing in on us
Scared and confused, we begin to run
Our friends and family, we move together
Through each other, we live forever
But time will not allow this to last
A shadow of darkness it must cast
The future blurs, we cannot see
As light fades, time makes gain
It chases through the dark
Its ferocity grows, as vicious as a shark
Blood has filled the water
Its insatiable desire only grows hotter
Some weak and weary fall behind
Snatched up by its claws, lost in the bind
Time has weaved a clever trap
Its victims knotted into eternity’s’ lap
They will be alone forever
We begin to understand this sad endeavor
As we run, and many fall
The spark lights, we have returned our sight
We fled from time with all our might
But our actions were faulty, we could never win
Time is no killer, just a long forgotten friend
He reminds us of the delicacy of life
That every moment, we should make bright
For one day we live, the next we may die
Together we survive, outliving time
