Fire Flame

You start something that you never may finish
it wasn't intentional to be like that
but that's how life works sometimes
everything has a start and a finish
in betweens are what make a race though
the pacing, the panting
the sweating and cramping
those are what make journeys true to their name
flames burning, hoping to stay lit
trying to get the most illumination
before that flame dies out
and when it dies
you hope to relight it once again
but what happens when that flame is extinguished forever
what happens when forever is stopped in its tracks
what happens when a man finally realizes
that some flames should have stayed lit
and other fires didn't produce the heat like they thought
sometimes a candle is more potent
than the out of control fire that cant be contained
