The rain pours in heavy drops
The clock winds on, tick tock, tick tock
Another year I sit alone
Remembering the one love is forever gone

I am old, my life nears its end
I have no regrets, nothing left to give
She took my soul, my body whole
When she passed, I left this world as well

Our time together was worth every second
This ending was inevitable, we could not escape it
Her cancer was malignant, a black disease
But it could not take our happiness, we fought with ease

We need not leave a worry in this world
We had each other, she was my pearl
So precious and pure, her warmth was my ecstasy
I would hold her tight, my love for her showed for all to see

As time went on she began to fade
White turned to grey, and she was becoming unmade
Fear gripped my heart for not but a moment
For she came to me and said it was alright

We had each other, nothing could hinder
This love we had built, it was beyond surrender
She passed away, late in the night
My heart she kept, as I lay there and cried

My tears drowned away my fear
I knew she was with me, she would always be near
So on this porch I sit, on the eve of her death
Knowing she is with me, even if she must rest

Some cry and get very depressed
But their love is shallow, not able to survive the test
But there is one love, it goes beyond death
The love I shared with my beloved, it is more true than the rest

We will be together, if not in life, then in heaven
Forever we will cherish each other, I will not cry

I live for her but one day I must die, and upon that day I will be with her once more
