sickness

A sickness has come over me
It is as though death has placed a seed
Deep within my soul
Once it is planted, it will grow
But it will never go

It is a weed that contaminates all
Before long everyone will fall
To this menace that is among us
He breaths death into all of us

The more I move, the bigger it gets
It can no longer find a fit
It externalizes itself, reaching my outer flesh
My skin boils as if overcome by some sickly rash

My body mangles and contorts as it reaches the later stage
This evolution to my being entails so much pain
My spine breaks free from my weakening back
The very skin I wear begins to curdle and crack

I retreat to my corner afraid of what I have become
I mustn’t let this out, I can tell no one
So I sit and I cry, as my body feeds upon itself
There is nothing in this cruel world that can save myself

I see a grotesque being luring in the dark
It lies just beyond my reach
Its contorted movements are that of a beast untamed
A breath of cold fear creeps its way down my shivering back

I run forward, into darkness
I grab its throat and squeeze what life it has left from its body
I plunge my fingers deep into the chest of the monster
My long, misshapen fingers pull forth the heart of the monster

Thump, Thump, the black heart beats
Its beat and mine own meet
Realization rushes over me in seconds
This monster is me, he is a flesh resemblance

As I stand in the dark, my sick heart beating out of tune
I know a decision must be mad soon
I crush the heart with what strength I have left
This monster will not become me as long as have breath
I am liberated through death, the sickness has no host
He is left in a dead corpse, nothing more than a ghost
