if only in my sleep

I spent the night dreaming of you,
swaddled in a blanket of bursting desire
like a blister in too tight shoes.
I spent the evening thinking of you,
but awake i have no words to say.
My heart, a damaged record,
repeatative, unheard, unplayed-
but call another by any other name
and i swear that the unused shall surely break.

in my sleep i found you through sheets,
of cotton, paper, sweat, and ink.
on the edge of reasoning, consideration
i found choise to jump
then either to swim or to sink.

And these,
these affections remain untouched,
in the fear of to break what matters far too much.
So all of these things will remain to sit
and collect dust...
... but never in my sleep.

When I awake I will write to you,
words one day I hope you'll read
and i will call them true,
but until then i will have to find you in between
blue and pink ruled lines and always in my sleep.

So here, at the end of the page,
I leave you reguardless, and always with dearest the dearest reguards i can make...
... my heart,
my soul,
if never my body, are yours to keep...
...only, if only for now, they can be only yours
in my sleep.
