35,000  Feet

35,000 Feet

I'm watching a movie in-flight,
about children forced to fight,
resting my head upon the shoulder of a virgin,
feeling blessed and grateful for this charmed life,
pondering upon the contrast,
of two opposite extremes,
the good things are gone to fast,
when the moment becomes just a dream,
for all good things come to an end,
that's the bittersweet taste of victory,
for you to gain, another must lose,
for every known hero, countless lost in history,
35,000 feet above,
riding on Cloud 9,
747, jet set love,
there is no finish line,
just this race we are all running,
survival of the fittest,
some will starve for attention,
you can have this, if you get this,
spoils for the victor,
toils for the ones that lose,
impact off the richter,
boom, boom, boom,
just remember,
a few golden rules,
stay away from liars,
and always tell the truth,
let rumors be rumors,
let your actions be your proof,
if you get a chance for success,
take that shot, shoot!
There's no time to waste,
no, not at all,
so I don't smoke,
or drink alcohol,
natural highs are more my style,
a magical massage,
or a high free fall,
continent hopping,
getting frequent flyer miles,
used to have nothing,
now I have it all,
only have God to thank for this,
so remember two true things,
before you dive into the abyss,
tie your two shoe strings,
and, hmmm, oh yeah,
four more things,
here you go,
bless the fortune they bring...
1) Walk softly,
but carry a big stick,
2) make decisions slowly,
but react to situations quick,
3) know when you are blessed,
and act accordingly in loyalty,
4) few are fortunate enough to be kissed,
by this charmed life of afforded royalty,
it's an anomaly that I am here,
35,000 feet above,
used to sleep in the streets,
used to get no love,
now I sleep in Egyptian sheets,
and get so much more love,
between 1000 thread count,
I have an abundance of love,
more than any physical amount,
beautiful woman offer me,
whatever I want I can have,
though to tell you honestly,
all I really want is a good laugh,
maybe find a little joy,
in this painful world,
maybe find a little justice,
in this savage world,
for to make someone smile,
is worth more than gold,
sometimes it's just us after awhile,
if the true is to be told,
a trade off it seems,
all is fair in love and war,
my hopes for your dreams,
my cuts for your scars,
and I write this all for you,
as I rest my head on your shoulder,
knowing it's cold out there,
and it's only getting colder,
but from up here,
we are comfortably numb,
a player who's been with hundreds,
and a virgin that's been with none,
climate controlled in the sky,
we are hot from the hearts heat,
climbing up, let's get high,
flying at 35,000 feet.
