The Desert

Desert skyline
A cascading sunset tells the world that the night will be cool
Barren land
Nothing but miles and miles of sand
A hot sun
A beautiful moon
And lone animals wale in the distant
The desert
The cacti judge spectators as they cry with parched mouths
The desert wasteland
She is a cruel maiden
Likes to watch the weak stumble
And the strong conquer all

Hues and shades of purple and orange
As the blazing sun crawls below the mountains
Silence captures the ears of listeners
Nothing but the gentle hiss of sandy wind
Kissing tan checks
And she wishes you goodnight
A soulless man hangs itself high on warm nights
While starry twinkling lights watch over us while we all pretend to sleep
