Our Poem

I’m sitting here thinking of you.
How things went so terribly wrong.
Distracting myself, but thoughts of you
Still seem to cut through.

Now that no one is here, there’s nothing
To stop this loneliness from growing.

I venture through ruins of what used to be.
In shattered feelings and adamant memories.

Thinking of what could’ve been.
Holding you tight and knowing this is home.
Staring into your eyes, knowing you’re my happiness.
Sitting in each other’s arms to forget our sadness.

That will never happen.
Cause that’s not how this poem goes.

I really did love her, sure she messed up.
All she had to do was convince a bit
And I probably would’ve stayed.
My spirit is crushed
Because these feelings were legit.
But you just couldn’t think to fight that day.
No longer do I want to think of you or this.

You’ve already chosen to forget me completely.
I should’ve forgotten you long ago too.
Perhaps then my heart will beat peacefully.
Rest my heart, be easy, rest silently…
