Beggar and Thief: part 3

So, one day, as he left for lunch, I slipped into his shop, unnoticed along with the midday traffic, most of the workers and the town guard on break this time of day, I proceeded to take everything that wasn't locked up after I scouted the area to make sure no one else was around. It was going even better than I had hoped, as I had collected several pounds of precious loot just from the first room.

But as I made my way upstairs to the jeweler's living quarters, to see what I could find there, I heard the sound of the front door opening downstairs,  he was back!

My thoughts racing, I decided to hide in the wardrobe, and just hope that he didn't come back for anything in his room. I sat there for what seemed like an eternity, hiding amongst his clothes trying to quiet my breathing as I listened to the man moving about.

I suddenly heard the man coming up the stairs, and soon came to the realization that I may just have to kill the innocent shopkeeper to avoid certain imprisonment. As I heard the old man casually enter the room, I heard him pause for a moment, before heading for the wardrobe.

This is it, I thought, as I readied my dagger, and lie in wait for him to open it. I decided I would have to take control of the situation quickly, to avoid drawing any unwanted attention to myself. As I steeled myself for what surely lie ahead, my heart raced, and I felt more alive than I ever had before, I felt an unimaginable high as I anticipated his next move.

Finally, he threw open the wardrobe, and as it opened, I pounced on the feeble old man, knocking him to the ground as I placed one hand over his mouth to muffle his screams of terror. Before slitting.his throat, I glared into his eyes for a moment, savoring the look of sheer terror in his eyes, he knew his fate at this point as I proceeded to bleed him out like a butcher would bleed out a pig.

Shortly after the deed was done, I pulled myself together and left out of the back of his shop, stashing my take in a nearby alley before returning to the tavern I frequented to wait until nightfall to sell it off to my business partner, the pawnproker.
