Beggar and Thief: part 2
I turned my back on everything I knew and loved, without even a second thought in pursuit of my dreams, but when I finally arrived in town the realization that I had basically nothing to go on soon hit me like a ton of bricks as I realized basically all I had were the clothes on my back and enough coin to rent a room for a few nights and purchase a couple simple meals to sustain myself.
Out of options, I soon turned to begging in the street to earn some coin and a simple meal each night. After about a year of this miserable life, I took up extortion, forgery, and even burglary to keep myself going, eventually ending up a common thief.
Having nearly enough coin together to reach my goal, I decided to go after one big score, so I could finally afford to settle down for awhile, and purchase my dream home. I staked out my target, a jewelry store, for several days, watching the shopkeeper's daily routine very closely for my chance to make off with what I could.
I discovered that each day, he left for lunch for lunch at around noon, affording me about an hour long window to get in there, and do what I felt must be done. What's more, he didn't even bother to lock up his shop before he left, not suspecting to be robbed in broad daylight, I reasoned.
