moistened lids
only respite
from mind games
insidious
unconsciously praying  
lid will flip
let biological apparatus
steadily drip
seep out slowly
sever synapse
force cruel
hallucination
to dissipate
slip
lose control
of invisible  
iron grip
over half-full
dreams
allow their cleanse  
of lesser tensions
shed emotional ticks
that cling
salve
their annoying
doubt injecting sting
spreading deeper
psychological disease
sickly impeding
precious sleep
motionlessly  
breaking sweat
tsunamis
drowning
in fever bed
