Hunters
They howl within the midnight clear
They scream at the moon in anger
They scratch the ground
Their claws honed by stones
And granite surfaces
Their eyes are blazing
They run together
Come dawn
They run back growling to their land
They huddle together within
their circle of feces and piss
They snarl together teeth gnashing
Bloodthirsty but don’t know why
Angry but don’t know at whom
They are just them
Jackals running behind
a pack of wolves
Hark, a lone howl
Wonder what they hunt
Tonight.
They scream at the moon in anger
They scratch the ground
Their claws honed by stones
And granite surfaces
Their eyes are blazing
They run together
Come dawn
They run back growling to their land
They huddle together within
their circle of feces and piss
They snarl together teeth gnashing
Bloodthirsty but don’t know why
Angry but don’t know at whom
They are just them
Jackals running behind
a pack of wolves
Hark, a lone howl
Wonder what they hunt
Tonight.
