Drives

She drives likes she's running away,
she drives like her heart is racing.
With the pedal down on the gas,
she prays this pain goes just as fast.
Looking back, he was all she wanted,
right there she made her first mistake.
She's got a tendency to list them,
as she drives down the interstate.

She'll never drive fast enough,
to pass the things she's trying too,
but you would never know it,
by the counties she's flying through,
but she thinks just a little farther,
and maybe she will feel better.

She drives like she's not going back,
she drives like her hearts under attack.
With the windows down, trees rolling by,
she barely notices the countryside.
In the rear view the lights are bright,
but all she is seeing is red,
and now she knows what it means,
to be alive but to feel dead.

She'll never drive fast enough,
to pass the things she's trying too,
but you would never know it,
by the counties she's flying through,
but she thinks just a little farther,
and maybe she will feel better.

She drives straight till the sun comes up,
she drives and drives but still feels stuck.
In this feeling that she's not enough,
not to keep around, and not to love.

She'll never drive fast enough,
to pass the things she's trying too,
but you would never know it,
by the counties she's flying through,
but she think just a little farther,
and maybe she will feel better.

She drives likes she's running away,
she drives like her heart is racing.
