Prayer for the Damned

Oh withered body once of stone
Now cast out from the garden
To suffer in the sin filled world
Of dominance and shame
Gather your strength and
Carry me back to the place of my birth
Let me remember the beauty of the moment
When life first breathed into my soul.

Oh withered body once of stone
Protect me from the rain of my sorrow
And coldness of my fear.
Silence the cracks that slowly creep and threaten
To turn my very existence to rubble and dust.

Oh withered body once of stone
Forgive the callous demeanor
That has rendered us impure and forsaken
Let us seek the water that may wash away our sins
Before we kneel to be judged.

Oh withered body once of stone
Heavy with the weight of my compulsions
Climb the altar for
We are at our sunset
Lay our sins by our feet,
Kneel and pray,
For a merciful lord.
