The Beauty of the Beast

Honesty.
It is the one thing that separates people from dogs.
Yet at first glance, his sharp
teeth and
tough skin makes you brand him a dog.
Up in his mansion he sits
day in, day out almost not existing.
Not existing yet instilling fear in every man, woman and child who
lives in the shadows of his wealth.

He was a vain man.
In the presence of his money, his face shone like gold.
His money was his face
and the power of hate bred in his loins festered until he became
dead to his own lust for wealth.

He pretends to be no man.
He roars and screams and snarls
his confession;
I am a beast.
He knows no love.
He knows no peace.
Until a Belle comes along and
gives him a heart to feel.

He realizes that being a beast is no threat to love.
Nothing is too strong for love.

She says
I can tell that you're beautiful by your eyes.
He says
You look at me and my soul feels naked.
You look at me and the vulnerability I feel is
beautiful.
She loves the beast because of his beauty.

Honesty.
He did not fear his inner beast.
He did not deny his inner beast.
She fell in love with his inner beast's inner soul.
The beauty of the beast was what she saw.
The beauty of the beast was honesty.
The beauty of love is honesty.
This beast is a man not a dog.
