What The Eyes Behold

My eyes absorb the new landscape,
Taking in all the presented change,
A few trees here and a lot over there,
With a river running thru it seems so strange.

The pupils see the sun,
Yet the skin feels a chill,
The nights are filled with fog,
And life appears at a stand-still.

Then these eyes turn inward,
And often they see a heart so glad,
But other times it's dark and gloomy,
Then in those moments sometimes feeling sad.

I cannot help to wonder,
Where the events of life took the turn,
I had always imagined it being one way,
I'm finding it all to be a game which I've yet to learn.

I'm not saying that I'm depressed,
So please don't get me wrong,
It's just that everything is so foreign,
Which seems to follow life's same old song.

You can never fully know what's coming,
What dangers lay just around the bend,
You don't know if you're gonna wake up,
Or if your life will be at its end.

Everyday you must take,
Completely on its own,
Enjoying every breath to the fullest,
Before your spark is overthrown.

Having absorbed and seen so much,
My eyes are getting quite tired,
So I hope these words find a way to your heart,
And leave you feeling life hungry and inspired.
